Hui HU, Zhiming CHEN, Zhen JIAO

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 58-64 doi: 10.1007/s11705-009-0106-8

Abstract: This paper presents an experimental investigation of a novel impinging stream reactor (ISR) with the aim of high mixing intensity. The integral mixing quality in the reactor was measured with the iodide-iodate reaction and showed excellent mixing performance. The impact of the operating parameters, such as fluxes, circulation and inter-nozzle distances, was investigated in terms of segregation index. The results showed that the increase of flux, the decrease of inter-nozzle distance and a suitable circulation can improve the micro-mixing efficiency. Based on turbulence theory, it was estimated that the characteristic micro-mixing time was 0.002—0.02 s, which was much shorter than that in the stirred tank reactor. The micro-mixing time was related to the segregation index, which was in good agreement with those in the literature.

Engineering 2021, Volume 7, Issue 4,   Pages 452-464 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.05.027

Abstract:

Intractable delays occur in air traffic due to the imbalance between ever-increasing air traffic demandAs air traffic is associated with complex air transport systems, delays can be magnified and propagatedAn understanding of delay propagation dynamics is pertinent to modern air traffic management. In this work, we present a complex network perspective of delay propagation dynamics. This work provides a potent tool for tracing the evolution of air traffic delays.

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2017, Volume 4, Issue 4,   Pages 490-497 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2017008

Abstract: Today, large quantities of vehicle data (FCD: floating car data) are widely used by traffic service providersto create and broadcast traffic states in road networks. After the matching process, space-time-diagrams are created of the probe data showing traffic situationVarious examples illustrate how traffic service quality depends on the number of matched GPS raw dataTraffic reconstruction is followed by a translation into traffic information messages, which can be sent
